MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Police lockdown on three Marysville schools was lifted at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, after police conducted a search for a carjacking suspect in the area.

Marysville Middle School, Totem Middle School and Liberty Elementary were placed in lockdown starting at 8:43 a.m., according to Jodi Runyon, executive assistant to the superintendent at the Marysville School District.

“The carjacking suspect fled on foot,” Runyon said.

Students who rode the bus were rerouted to the Marysville School District Service Center, and received both supervision and snacks in the Board Room.

“All of our students are safe, and all of them are being looked after,” said Runyon, who added that the students at the Service Center were taken to school as soon as the lockdown was lifted.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office had responded to a report of a white Chevrolet Silverado that was stolen at gunpoint at 7 a.m., north of Everett on State Route 529 at Ebey Slough, by a suspect who was described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic male in his early 20s, with a thin build and armed with a revolver.

The vehicle was located unoccupied at 8:36 a.m. in the 4900 block of 67th Street NE in Marysville. A K-9 track was initiated, but the suspect was not located, and the Sheriff’s Office received information that he was no longer in the area.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the Marysville Police Department are continuing the investigation.
