• Eagle Wings partners with Warm Beach Camp and seeks volunteers.
Eagle Wings has announced a new partnership with Warm Beach Camp for four sessions of Special Friends Camp this summer. Sessions are scheduled for June 30 – July 3; July 6 – 9; Aug. 24 – 27 and Aug. 31 Sept. 3.
Camp or adults with disabilities is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily with many volunteer opportunities for families, individuals, and for high school students that need some community service hours.
Whether it’s horseback riding, swimming, ropes course, a climbing wall, or a zip line; no one is turned away from an activity due to a limitation. Every camper is assigned a friend for minor assistance and friendship — not a caregiver, but a person that can push a wheelchair, walk or encourage a camper and share camp experiences.
Opportunities for volunteers range from welcoming, crafts, games or one-on-one volunteers.
Imagine the gift of accomplishment given to someone not able to physically climb a rock wall, but being harnessed in and hoisted to the top to feel the achievement of success.
Other camps at Warm Beach include Dad & Me Weekends, Horsemanship clinics and camps, Leadership Summit, Family Camps, Youth Camps, Day Camps and Marriage & Engaged Encounters.

• Looking for something meaningful yet fun to do for your community? As a Volunteer Travel Counselor at the North Snohomish County Visitor Information Center, you will advise visitors from next door and all over the world looking for things to do and places to stay in the area. A great way to help your local economy! The center is located at 3710 168th Street NE, Ste. C101 in the Pilchuck Plaza off of Smokey Point Boulevard in a shared space with the Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber. Chose a regular three-hour weekly shift or be a substitute. • Volunteers are needed to hike the Mount Baker area with the Mountain Stewards Protect Ecosystem.
Adult volunteers 18 years or older with hiking and outdoor recreation skills are needed to hike trails and teach hikers and climbers about Leave No Trace ethics, safety and Forest Service regulations. • Village Community Services is recruiting volunteers to sit on its board of directors. The nonprofit agency is looking for volunteers who passionately believe in the rights, talents, and potential of people with disabilities, and want to work toward their full inclusion in the workforce and community. Village Community Services’ board of directors take a leadership role in: 1) setting the vision and policies that govern VCS’s services to people with disabilities; 2) informing the community about the many skills and abilities people with disabilities have to offer; 3) advising the agency based on individual expertise and experience; 4) ensuring the financial health of VCS through stewardship, legislative advocacy, and friend-raising. The board meets the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. • Relay for Life of Northern Snohomish County 2009 is looking for Planning Committee members. Relay teams raise money throughout the year prior to the event with a variety of fundraising activities. Relay for Life celebrates survivors, funds research and cancer education, inspires the public to become involved in the American Cancer Society’s Advocacy efforts and makes important services possible for patients and their families. The Planning Committee for the Northern Snohomish County Relay for Life meets the first Thursday of every month.
