Eddie Guthrie, 93, passed away on May 5, 2009 with his daughter Delores and Son-in- law Errol Collins by his side.
Ed, and his twin brother Earl, were born on May 16, 1915. Their parents were Bessie and Earnest Guthrie of Pilchuck, Wash.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Roy and Earl and his sister, Dorothy as well as his wife, Alice Kristine Guthrie and a second wife, Margaret Guthrie.
He was in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the war he spent 2 years in Adak, Alaska working as a civil employee at the naval base.
He spent the majority of his working years (30 years) as a civilian employee at Jim Creek Radio Station northeast of Arlington, Wash. He was part of the maintenance crew.
Ed is survived by his daughter; Delores Collins and her husband Errol Collins. He has two grandsons, Jeff Collins and his wife Cyndi and Jason Collins and his wife Stacy. He has two great-grandchildren; Julia Haileigh Collins age nine and Adam Errol Gordon Collins, age seven.
The family would like to thank the physicians and nurses at the Providence Medical Center for the compassionate and loving care provided to Ed at the Colby Campus.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Ed’s life on June 25, 2009, 2:30 p.m. at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N. MacLeod Ave., Arlington, WA.
