Irene Helen (Wilson Knapp) Gesme died peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 15, 2017, at Providence hospital, Everett, after a brief bout of pneumonia.
Born in Snohomish on Sept. 8, 1927, a lifelong resident of Washington state and graduate member of Marysville HS class of 1945, Irene was a staunch Lutheran and a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She loved to travel, be it by boat or RV, but she always called Marysville home.
Irene was very active in the Everett Yacht Club, the Elks Yacht Club, the Ladies Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Snohomish County Homemaker’s Guild. She found time to sew and craft; she always had multiple projects ongoing.
In her younger years she bowled weekly in leagues and in her later years she walked daily. Irene also took time to volunteer for the local blood center. She touched many lives and will not be soon forgotten.
Preceded in death by beloved spouse George Gesme and youngest child Susan Gesme; her children Marilyn K (Gesme) Norton, Ann Irene (Gesme) Collins, Melvin Charles Gesme, Lois Alene (Gesme) Bradbury, numerous grand, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren invite you for service and remembrance on March 11th, 11 a.m. Messiah Lutheran Church – 9209 State Ave, Marysville; with a short graveside service after. Please come and share stories and hugs.
