John David Lunz, 63, died Jan. 1, 2007.
A memorial service was held Jan. 13, 2007, at the Lunz home in Marysville, Wash. His ashes will be spread this summer from a kayak in the Puget Sound near his home.
The Lunz family moved to Mukilteo in 1987 and several years later to Marysville where they currently reside. John worked for Science Applications International Corporation out of Bothell as a senior scientist. He retired in 2003 and in recent years enjoyed kayaking, sailing, cycling and travel with family. He was very active politically on a community level.
Survivors include his wife, of 38 years, Elizabeth Ann Lunz; three children, Ross, and his wife, Jeanne, of New Orleans, La., Owen, and his wife, Kate, of Lafayette, Colo., and Ethan, of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren, Henry and Wyatt; and his siblings, Virginia Gerken, of Tuscon, Ariz., and Richard Lunz, of Columbia, Md.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Seattle.
