Our beloved son, SPC Jordan William Hess passed away from serious wounds received in Operation Iraqi Freedom on Dec. 5, 2006.
He was driving an Abrams A1M1 tank when his vehicle was attacked by a improvised explosive device near Ramadi, Iraq. His parents, Bill and Tammy Hess, and his brothers, Lance, Justin, Jared, Adin, and Brendan and sister, Ashley, were able to say goodbye at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Jordan loved to freestyle wrestle, winning many awards as a youth. He was a poet, spending hours expressing his feelings through verse. He had a passion for art. He enjoyed glass blowing, drawing and especially photography. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He enjoyed learning new things and had recently built a new computer for his fiancee, Sandra. He loved to go out dancing with her and taking long walks in the park.
He is survived by his parents, Tammy and Bill Hess of Marysville; his brother, Lance and wife, Gina, and their children, Cameron, Ethan and Garrett of Beaverton, Ore.; his brothers Justin and Brendan of Everett; his brother, Jared and wife, Jaylene of Stockton, Calif.; and Adin and wife, Shelley of Bend, Ore., and their children Angelina and Suriel, and his sister, Ashley and husband, Chris Findlay. He is also survived by his grandparents, N. Gene and Enrie Suhrbier, and aunts Deanna Hess and Cindy Hess.
Visitation was held from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville, and 9 – 9:45 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at the church. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Marysville. Graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, at Tahoma National Cemetery.
