Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Richard and Gazette Staker, LaVaughn moved, at the age of 12, to Everett, Washington with her father and step-mother (Neva). She graduated from Everett High.
During WWII she met, and later married (on Valentine’s Day, 1946), Donald E. Meier. Together they built a clothing business (Meier’s Clothing with stores in Arlington, Marysville and Stanwood) and raised two children, Rich Meier and LuAnne Kay.
LaVaughn would tell anyone who asked that her greatest achievements were her two children and her granddaughter, Alison Meier, who survive her. Her greatest loss was her husband, Don, in 2007.
Memorials may be made to P.E.O. International, Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation or the American Heart Association. At her request, no services will be held.
