Lucy Anna Melchior went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on July 25, 2009. Lucy was born in Wolf Point Mont. in 1926 to Anna and Carl Ulsky.
Lucy graduated from Holy Angels High School (Seattle) in 1944. She married Don at Notre Dame University in 1945. They made their home in the Renton area where she was an active member of St. Francis House in Seattle for many years.
In 1973 Lucy moved to Arlington with her husband and family. She worked as an accountant at Bayliner after completing her AA degree at Everett Community College. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Arlington and continued to work on many social justice issues. She was a member of the Secular Franciscans for over 50 years.
Lucy always remembered her family and friends life events with cards; visited Lithuania, her parents’ homeland with her sister; collected angels and was the ultimate sports fan. She was thrilled to be selected as this year’s Grand Marshall of Arlington’s Fourth of July parade with her husband. We will all miss her gentle, calming spirit.
Lucy is survived by Don, her loving husband of 63 years; daughters Mary (Robert) Taschner, Ann Melchior, Joan Huling, Theresa (Scott) Valentine; sons Thomas (Gayle), John (Kim), Frank (Ling-Ling), Mike (Jayne), Pete (Cathy) and Paul (Robin); 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother Carl (Shirley) Ulsky and many nieces and nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by her mother and father; sisters Kinga Garnett and Helen Tomlinson; brothers Alfon, Eskivar and Roman Ulsky; son-in-law Bill Huling; daughter Catherine Rose; sons Andrew, James Anthony and Gerard; grandsons Robin and Stephen Taschner.
A funeral service and celebration of Lucy’s life was held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 1, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Church, 1200 E 5th, Arlington, WA with a reception that followed. Prayer Vigil and viewing were on Friday, July 31, at the church.
