Gresham resident Marie Doris Jorgenson went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 16, 2010 after a courageous battle with pneumonia. No services will be held at this time, the family will have a private gathering.
Marie was one of eleven children, born July 8, 1925 in Duluth, Minnesota to the late Joseph and Marie (Boyce) Kreminski, Sr. She graduated from Warren High School, Warren, MN and worked at Goldberg’s Department Store in Chicago. She first worked as a secretary for the department store management and later in the retail division. She was the beloved wife for over 65 years to Albert Jorgenson they were married on April 3, 1945 in Warren, Minnesota. After Albert returned from serving in the Army during WWII, they started a family. Throughout the years the family lived in various cities including Minneapolis, Minneapolis; Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; and Arlington, Washington. They eventually settled in Gresham in 1989.
Growing up, Marie was an accomplished Girl Scout and avid athlete lettering in high school during a time when it was a challenge for girls to participate in school sports. Throughout her life Marie continued her love of sports, loved to play golf, and belonged to many bowling leagues. She competed in several golf tournaments and won many trophies (even once when she was six months pregnant). Marie and Albert loved dancing and were the “polka king and queen”. When they were dancing, everyone would clear the dance floor to watch them. Marie was a loving mother with the patience of a saint. She taught by example and took to heart her responsibility to tend to her family with sacrifice and commitment. She was very involved with her children and was a Campfire Leader, Girls Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader. She was a talented craftsman, mastering numerous artistic skills; one of her talents was creating beautiful macramé projects. Marie lived life with wonderful wit and sense of humor that she shared generously with her family in her last days. Some of her many interests included music, cribbage and canasta. She was a wonderful cook and her family never came home to an empty house – she always had a meal ready and made home comfortable. When Albert own his own construction business, Marie managed the office and accounting for the company. Marie volunteered many years at Mt. Hood Hospital, Gresham, OR. She was a devout Christian, who spent many hours a day studying the Bible, praying, living and sharing her faith. She was an active member of East Hill Church since 1989 and was involved in the Pastor Jeff Hayes Seasoned Saints 55+ group.
Marie was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Ryan Grieci and Cassie Jorgenson. She is survived by her husband, Albert Jorgenson of Gresham; daughters, Jeanne Hooks of Chaska, Minnesota; Susan Tantlinger(Jim) of Tucson, Arizona; Jeffrey Jorgenson(Terri) of Camano Island, Washington; Sharon Grieci(Al) of Arlington, Washington; Janice Jannsen(Michael) of Troutdale, Oregon; Sandra Jorgenson of Gresham, Oregon; brother George Kreminski of Mora, Minnesota; sisters; Bernadine Vanderlinde of Waconia, Minnesota, Patricia Kostecka of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Diane Dietz of Alexandria, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
