Former Bremerton resident Philip Heier Jr., 86, of Marysville died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at Marysville Care Center.
He was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Hosmer, S.D., to Philip Sr. and Barbara (Loewenstein) Heier. On June 19, 1948, he married Betty Jo Van Gorden. He graduated from Hosmer High School in 1936 and moved to Bremerton in 1940. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. and the Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2004; and brothers, Joseph, George and Tony, Martin, Adam, Mike and Raymond Heier.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (Mark) Kreutz; brothers, John, Barney and Jacob; brother-in-law, Harold Van Gorden; sisters, Margaret (Omar) Barstad and Theresa Jarrett; sisters-in-law, Josephine, Margaret, Helen and Rosemarie Heier; and four grandchildren.
He was buried Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Miller-Woodlawn. A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m., Nov. 10, at Holy Trinity Parish. A Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 10, at Holy Trinity Parish. Donations may be sent to St. Vincent De Paul.
