Rose Marie Hunter was born to Carl and Macel Haaland in Wallowa, Oregon, October 1, 1932. She was the youngest of 7 children. The family moved from Oregon to Snohomish County around 1937, eventually to a dairy farm outside of Marysville. She grew up a farm girl.
She married Russ Hunter, September 1, 1956. Rose worked at the Marysville Globe for over 15 years, leaving to work with Russ at the family business, Hunter’s Corner. Rose was a lifelong member of the Covenant Church; South Lake Stevens Covenant Church and now Sanctuary Covenant Church in Everett, WA (formerly First Covenant Church), where she was active in programs to help the homeless.
Her passions included ballroom dancing with Arthur Murray, knitting, music, and most of all, family.
Never one to back down from a challenge, she hiked the Swiss Alps in 2001, and skied, ziplined and snorkeled in her 70s. She served as an inspiration to all who had the fortune to meet her.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Russ Hunter. She is survived by three daughters and their spouses: Margaret and John Martin, Melinda and Shannon Ramey, and Cindy Hunter and Louis Quesnell; 11 grandchildren: Kim and Diane Martin, Vince and Paul Ramey, Mitchell, Kali and Alexie Burnside,
