Roy Charles Kachel of Marysville, Washington, age 97, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 22, 2011. Roy was born in Seattle, Washington, on July 25, 1913, to Edwin R. and Emma L. Kachel.
Roy graduated from the University of Washington in June 1937 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In June 1937 he was hired by Boeing as an Engineer and worked for the company for almost 35 years. He retired in 1971. He was married to his beloved wife, M. Elaine Kachel, now deceased, for 69 years. Surviving are his two daughters, Karen and Kathie Kachel, three granddaughters Kerri Broullett (Steve), Shannon Gengé (John), and Kelsey Hauff. He also leaves four great grandsons, Kyle and Cody Broullett and Brayden and Jerad Sheen.
He enjoyed his Hobby of old Steam Railroads, and had a large scale Garden Railroad with many kinds of Steam Trains. He great grandsons called him “Grandpa Choo Choo.”
