Stanley Matterand, 89, of Stanwood, WA passed away November 5, 2010.
Stanley was born on May 30, 1921 in Stanwood, Washington to Emil and Alma Matterand. He lived his entire life on the farm along the Stillaguamish river south of Stanwood.
Stanley was a farmer and drove school bus for the Stanwood School district in the 1940’s and again in the 1970’s. He was a lifetime member of the Cedarhome Seventh-day Adventist church where his Father Emil was one of the Charter members.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emil & Alma; and sisters, Bernetta Matterand and Edith Braun.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel, who he married on September 24, 1950 at the Cedarhome Seventh-day Adventist church. Together they raised two daughters, Nina (Dennis) Molstad of Arlington, WA and Cheryl (Craig) Wagner, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Melissa Molstad, Jason Molstad, Julia Wagner, Christopher Wagner, Eric Wagner and four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brianna, Wyatt and Izabella; as well as numerous cousins; nieces; and nephews.
A Celebration of Stanley’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 20, 2010 in the Cedarhome Seventh-day Adventist Church, Stanwood, Washington.
Donations in Stanley’s memory can be made to Stanwood Historical Society or to Skagit Adventist Academy, Burlington, WA.
Internment was held on November 9, 2010 at the Loyal Heights Cemetery under the direction of Gilbertson’s Funeral Home of Stanwood.
