Violet Olson, 94, passed away peacefully, Nov. 19, 2008 while in hospice care at Providence Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 29, 1914 and was the last surviving child of Calvin and Lora Marsh, Arlington pioneers. Violet grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School. In 1933 she married Rudolph Olson, also of Arlington, and they moved to Seattle to begin their lives together. Later they relocated to Kennewick, Washington, where she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy in 1977.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Kathleen) Olson of Nahcotta; and daughter, Ginger (David) Dollarhide of Stanwood; six grandchildren, Crystal Guderian, Tracy Olson, Leanne Halling, Wenda Zonnefeld, Kyle Olson, Meredith Cotton; and eleven great-grandchildren.
An active Christian, Violet was involved in Child Evangelism and children’s ministries in Kennewick. She loved music and played the piano and accordion. She moved back to the west coast in her later years and was active in the Women’s Missionary Council and the Senior Group at Marysville First Assembly of God. She was known for her gentleness and generosity.
After becoming totally blind in 2007 she was provided care at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 1, at Marysville First Assembly of God fellowship hall, 4705 Grove Street, Marysville.
