Irene Edna Wade was born July 28, 1918, to Thomas and Harriet Wade, on Lulu Island, British Columbia, and she passed away at Marysville Care Center on Nov. 6, 2006, with her grandson Brad at her side.
The family immigrated to Everett in 1925 and lived in the Delta neighborhood. Irene graduated from Everett High School in 1936 and married Francis Hershaw in July; they had two children and divorced in 1956. Irene worked in the shipyards and the sawmills during World War II and later worked for West Dependable Groceries for many years.
Irene married Gordon Peterson in 1961 and moved to Oroville, Wash., where she was a member of the Ladies Eagle Auxiliary and the American Legion.
Irene moved to Mount Vernon, Wash. in 1987 and married Gordon Crawford. Irene loved to go fishing, hunting and camping. She never missed deer hunting at Boulder Creek in Winthrop every year and most years got her own deer including her last one at age 76 (a 3-point).
Irene is survived by her loving daughter; Jeanette (Lorin) Cannon, of Yuma, Ariz., her sister, Phyllis Bonneywell, of Lakewood, Wash.; her special daughter-in-law, Pat Hershaw; three grandsons; Brad (Sue) Hershaw, Dan Hershaw and Todd (Reina) Cannon, all of Everett; her granddaughter, Ruby Cannon (Scott) Swagerty, of Forks, Wash.; and nine grandchildren, all of Everett. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Crawford; son, James Hershaw; sister, Dorothy Montieth; and brother, Cliff Wade.
Graveside services were held at noon, Saturday, Nov. 11, at Hawthorne Lawn Cemetery, 1825 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, Wash.
