William (Bill) Joseph Booker, 64, of Camano Island, Washington passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010 at his home on Camano Island. He was born on February 11, 1946 in Huntington, New York, the son of William and Susan (Cornell) Booker. Bill was proud to have served his country as a young man stationed in Korea with the U.S. Army. He spent the last 20 years of his life building an insurance agency with Farmer’s Insurance in Mt. Vernon, Washington. Some of Bill and Robin’s happiest times together were spent “digging in the dirt” in their lovely, flower-laden garden so enjoyed by all who visited their home. Bill also loved to cook, read, golf, work on small yard and household projects (which earned him the nickname “Mr. Fix It”), watch a good movie, watch the eagles from his home on Camano Island and, above all, spend time together with his wife and extended family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. After 21 wonderful years of marriage, Bill is survived by the love of his life, wife Robin Booker, who made his life meaningful and happy. He was a loving step-father to Kamrin Eriksen Huban, who he always thought of as his own daughter, and father-in-law to Eric Huban. Bill was very much looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild, due later this year. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Larry Elmen, a brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Arnelle Booker, a brother-in-law, Mike Irenze, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy Mathison and Charles Pickens, 12 nieces and nephews, and 18 grand nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8th, 2010 at Kern Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Washington. Burial took place at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes on Monday, August 9, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
