Since being purchased by Sounding Publishing Inc. nearly a year ago and getting a new publisher three months ago, The Marysville Globe and The Arlington Times have undergone a number of changes. Most of those changes, however, were internal and not readily apparent to those we serve — our readers and our advertisers.
We are now to the point where we want to begin a redesign of the newspapers and we want your input to ensure that we produce the community newspapers you want.
We will be looking at all aspects of the newspapers and are encouraging community members to contact us and tell us what they would like to see in The Globe and The Times.
One of the most important things we will be reviewing is content — what stories we cover and where they are placed in the paper. For example, when it comes to our sports coverage — would you like to see more, or less? Should we move sports so that it is featured in its own section? Are there areas of our community that you believe should receive more, or less, coverage? Would you like to see more coverage in areas such as business, schools, religion, local government or issues important to seniors? Our goal is to provide the right mix of stories and you can help by letting us know what you would like to see in your community newspaper.
We’ll also be taking a look at the design of the newspapers. Everything from how the stories are displayed to the order of the pages is being reviewed. We want to make the papers more visually appealing and make it easier for our readers to navigate through the newspapers.
And we are looking at ways to better serve our advertisers — such as premium ad placements.
You can help us make The Marysville Globe and The Arlington Times even better by e-mailing your ideas and suggestions to Scott Frank, managing editor, at sfrank@marysvilleglobe.com.
