MARYSVILLE – Both Arlington and Marysville-Pilchuck had some strong individual performances at a four-team cross country meet at M-P Wednesday.
Trevor Stone ran a personal best of 16 minutes, 48 seconds in placing fifth for M-P. Teammate Tanner Lauzon was 15th in 17:33.
Junior Chance Pearson of Arlington was ninth in 17:27. He was bunched with sophomore Quincy Fankhauser, Favian Villanueva, freshman Aiden Emerson, sophomore Vincent Loftis and Noah Loftis, who all finished within four seconds of Pearson.
For the girls, the top four finishers for Arlington are all juniors: Tailer Cochran was fifth in a personal record time of 20 minutes, 26 seconds; Paige Nelson 11th in 21:35; Jensyn Smith 13th 21:42 ; and Anne Louise Fernandez 14th in 21:43. Katelyn Morris was 15th and Maggie Delaney 16th, with Kelsey Mutton 19th and Brooklyn Hill 20th.
Finishing 21st for M-P was Alexia Sandoval, another junior, in 22:51. The only other Tomahawk girls runner, sophomore Elizabeth Turral, finished in 26:40.
Glacier Peak easily won both team titles, with Arlington second in the girls and third in the boys.
LAKEWOOD – Host Sehome won both the boys and girls cross country titles in a three-team meet in Bellingham Wednesday, while Lakewood was second and Nooksack Valley third in both competitions.
For the boys, junior Alex Jensen was third for Lakewood in 14 minutes, 45.31 seconds. Sophomore Gabe Hatch was fourth in 15:11.95. Jesse Stoddard was 15th, Mario Barletta 16th, Ben Schmidt 17th, Jarron Ransford 18th and Joseph Heisley 19th for the Cougars, all within four seconds of each other.
For the girls, Lakewood’s top finisher was Callie Buchanan, placing fourth with a clocking of 18:40.44. She was grouped with Alexa Daily, Madison Howe and Holly Riley, who placed fifth through seventh, within five seconds of one another.

ARLINGTON – The Eagle boys tennis team was blanked by Snohomish Wednesday 7-0.
In singles, Colby King at No. 4 had the best match for Arlington, falling 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Ben Spores-Ben Nichols lost in two close ones 6-4, 6-4.
MARYSVILLE – Marysville-Pilchuck’s boys tennis team was shut out by Oak Harbor Wednesday 7-0, but every match was close.
For example, at No. 2 doubles, Brady Phelps-Kellen Richey won the first set 6-4, but lost the next two 6-4, 6-3.
At No. 3 singles, Treven Southard lost 6-4, 7-6 (after a 7-2 tiebreaker. Both Connor Peterson and Aaron Kalab won their first sets in singles, but were easily defeated in the other two.
