The Lady Cougars got off to an 11-4 start against Sultan and seemingly never looked back en route to a 58-38 Cascade Conference win Friday, Jan. 26.
The visiting Lady Turks, clad in baby blue and white, were without head coach Scott Dillinger after he was assessed his second technical foul toward the end of the first quarter.
Lakewood coach Chris Walster said Dillinger was also ejected from their earlier meeting in the year at Sultan, and according to WIAA rules will not be allowed to coach the remainder of the year.
Junior post player Aly Stewart was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line after Dillingers first technical shot to make it a 19-6 ballgame.
Stewart added one more free throw and fellow post player Tawnya Hulslander turned an inbounds steal into a basket to give Lakewood a 22-8 lead after one quarter of play.
Two minutes into the second quarter Stewart broke a brief scoreless streak from both teams to triple the score at 24-8.
Junior guard Juliet Dvorak, sophomore Anna Work and junior Karli Hesselman added to the scoring spree before Sultan tallied their first hoop of the second frame.
Lakewood headed into the locker room with a comfortable 37-15 advantage.

Sultan came out in the third quarter and seemed to be a more fired up team than the previous two quarters had shown.
The 18-11 scoring turned out to be the one and only frame that the Turks would outscore the Cougars.
Junior post player Jennifer Lind got LHS on the board with a second-chance hoop, and Stewart poured in the next four points before Walster called a timeout up 43-23 with 3:54 remaining.
Hesselman went 1-for-2 from the charity stripe and Stewart drained a three-pointer as Lakewood headed into the final quarter of play ahead 48-33.
After both teams went 2:33 into the fourth scoreless, Stewart scored the next six points for the hosts en route to a 54-35 lead.
Hesselmans rebound and put back expanded the cushion to 56-35 with less than two minutes remaining in the contest.
The two teams combined for a handful more points before LHS emerged with the 58-38 league victory.
