Lakewood’s girls softball team looked dominating in its first game of the 2A District 1 Tournament.
The Cougars stomped Blaine 11-1 in just six innings Tuesday.
As a result, they play Lynden Wednesday, with the winner going to state. The loser will play the team that loses the Granite Falls-Sehome game to try to stay alive, also today. The winners will play for the championship.
Against Blaine, Lakewood pounded out 16 hits to win going away. Prestyn Lalone went 2-3 with a home run and a triple. Kassidy Millar also went 2-3, knocking in three runs with a triple and a double. And Jelly Perry went a perfect 4-4 at the plate.
Millar was the winning pitcher, improving her record to 16-4.
