TACOMA — Yesterday, the Marysville-Pilchuck soccer team played their third shootout in the state tournament in as many games.
“You play with the devil in these shootouts,” said M-P coach Geoff Kittle afterward. “Sooner or later, you get bit.”
After winning their first two, it was South Kitsap who made all five penalty kicks and a key block, advancing to the state championship game and handing the Tomahawks their first loss this season.
Marysville-Pilchuck plays Woodinville in a contest for third place today at 3 p.m. at Harry Lang Stadium. Woodinville comes into the game off of a 3-0 loss to Pasco, who will play South Kitsap in the state championship game today at 7 p.m.
I’ll be sending live updates from the Marysville-Pilchuck and Woodinville game to my Twitter account, which will be streamed live into the box at right.
