M-P falls to Lake Stevens, drops to 1-4 on season

The Tomahawks football team is facing an uphill climb to the postseason after losing to Wesco North foe Lake Stevens 35-17 Friday, Sept. 29.
The loss dropped the Tommies to 1-4 in league play and overall.
Lake Stevens improved to 2-2, 3-2.
Senior running back Aaron Posey led M-P with 22 carries for 190 yards.
M-P head coach Rudy Grandbois said that Posey is a workhorse and is a hard guy to bring down.
The Tommies had a tough time bringing down Isaac Molstre, who rushed 22 times for 237 yards and three touchdowns.
Grandbois said his squad was able to make initial contact with Molstre, but the elusive rusher continued to break free for large chunks of yardage.
M-P began their scoring with a 39-yard field goal from senior Kaleb Kuehn in the first quarter.
Lake Stevens took a 21-3 lead into the locker room at halftime, and the visitors werent able to close the gap.
Senior defensive back Duane Lapeyri caught a 4-yard pass from quarterback Denay Stell and Posey added a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Kuehn successfully converted on the two extra points.
M-P hosts Monroe Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. for Oktoberfest.
