MARYSVILLE – Marysville-Pilchuck won for the boys and Marysville Getchell for the girls, but it was a speedster from Grace Academy who stole the show in the Marysville City Championships Friday.
Gerrit VanBeek of Grace won the 100 meters in 11.47 seconds, the 200 meters in 22.75 seconds and the 400 meters in 52.45 seconds as the Grace boys team garnered 34 points.
M-P won with 77.5 and MG had 66.5.
The only other athletes who won more than one event were Josiah Gould and Keshawn King, both of M-P.
Gould took the 300 hurdles in 45.55 seconds and was on the winning 4 by 400 relay team in 3 minutes 43.93 seconds with Devine Darden, King and Jacob Carr.
King also was on the winning 4 by 100 team in 45.41 seconds with Eian Adcock, Galdino Fajardo and Bryan Sanders.

For the girls, MG had 99 points, followed by M-P with 73 and Grace with 2.
Nine girls won multiple events, with Catrina Wright of M-P leading the way with three.
Gabriella Crenshaw of M-P took the 200 in 27.55 seconds, and was on the winning 4 by 100 relay with Trina Davis, Chloe O’Loughlin and Wright in 51.39 seconds.
Davis also won the 100 in 12.51 seconds, while Wright placed first in both the long jump at 16 feet 6.75 inches and the triple jump in 34 feet.
Kiarra Green placed first in the 400 meters with a clocking of one minute, 2.5 seconds. She also was on the winning 4 by 200 relay with Chloe Bishop, Sabrina Farrell and Madeline Grandbois in 1:48.85.
Grandbois also won the shot put with a toss of 35 feet, 2 inches.
Farrell, McSwain and Sophie Alt also were on the winning 4 by 400 relay with Megan McReynolds.
Alt, of MG, also took the 300 hurdles in 50.07 seconds, while McSwain won the 100 hurdles in 17.25 seconds.
Finally, Summer Sanden of M-P won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet and the javelin with a toss of 64 feet, 10 inches.
