MARYSVILLE – The sun was shining bright so it looked like spring, but the temperatures felt more like winter as tryouts took place Monday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
With large piles of dirty snow in the parking lot, the Tomahawk baseball team took to the field.
Coach James Day said it felt good to be outside on the first day of practice. Often in the past it’s been raining. He and his assistant coaches were able to get a better look at players as they took infield and outfield. They were able to see fielding ability and arm strength on the field instead of in a gym.
Because the M-P boys basketball team was using the gym to practice for their stage game at the Tacoma Dome Thursday, the Tomahawk girls softball team also took to the field. Players hit in the batting cage, and pitchers and catchers were able to practice their crafts.
The M-P track team also was able to get in an outdoor workout. Members of the distance-running team worked on speed with short sprints, but many were wearing coats.
