EVERETT — The Marysville Junior Little League baseball All-Star team won the District 1 championship June 29, earning them a state playoff berth July 17 in Vancouver, WA.
The boys rallied to defeat Mill Creek twice to win the title; it was the same team that ousted Marysville from the winners bracket in the first round June 25.
After wining the consolation game against Lake Stevens June 27, Marysville topped Mill Creek 8-5 in the first game, but trailed 5-2 in the second game until hitters Jonathan Riggs, Jared Schultz and Carson Carlos put together runs allowing Marysville to climb to 8-5 in the fifth inning.
Mill Creek responded with two runs, but strong relief pitching by Parker Devereux held Mill Creek to 8-7 by game’s end.
