MILL CREEK — Sometimes it takes more than a couple of games to put everything together.

This might have been the case for Marysville American, as an 8-1 loss to Stilly Valley at Freedom Field in Mill Creek, ended their run at the 11-year-old all-star tournament.

“Our fielding was good. Our pitching was good, we just didn’t get enough hits,” said Marysville manager Brian Smith.

Offensively, Stilly scored the winning run in the first inning when Human and Zane Blanken hit back-to-back doubles to lead off the game. Blanken came around to score on Avery Earnheart’s double two batters later to give Stilly a 2-0 lead.

The home team, Marysville, came back with a run in the bottom of the second, with Sam Watson singling, stealing a base and eventually scoring on Kristian Furseth’s double.

Furseth scored had two doubles and a walk for Marysville.

“Kristian is a real good hitter,” Smith said. “But we had a lot of contact today, but they were right at people.”

That wasn’t the case for Stilly Valley, who had nine hits in the game, three coming from Earnheart, who also scored a run on Sheward’s two-run blast in the third, making the score 4-1.

Having lost their opening round games, both teams were trying to avoid getting knocked out of the consolation bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

Arlington lost to South Snohomish 8-2, June 26, while Marysville took home a 34-1 result.

The Marysville American team consisted of Connor Bjornsen, Tanner Valin, Colby Sommerness, Austin Coates, Jakob Wiechut, Alex Belmont, Tyler Smith, Ethan Denry, Furseth, Carter Ogden, Zachary Yarbrough and Watson.
