EVERETT — After four hours, 37 runs, a pair of extra innings and a rain delay, the Lady Tomahawks remained undefeated in Wesco North play.

Marysville-Pilchuck’s nine-inning, 19-17 victory, featured a little bit of everything May 4, including three home runs, a come-from-behind rally and a dance show.

“That was great for us today,” said 12-year M-P coach KT Allyn. “I have never seen a game like this. They showed poise out there and never gave up.”

Everett (7-6) didn’t make it easy for M-P (13-0), however, as it came back to tie two separate Tommies’ leads of six or more runs. The Seagulls didn’t have the lead until Lexi Levine hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to make the score 17-15.

The Tommies tied the score in the bottom half of the seventh with Jessica Christensen’s two-RBI single.

The most tense moment in the game, however, came in the bottom of the seventh, when Everett loaded the bases with none out against starting pitcher Riley Fritz, who proceeded to strike out the next two batters and induce a pop up to first baseman Morgan Martinis.

“I was really nervous,” Fritz said. “I had to block everything out. I knew it was just me and Jess (Christensen). After I got the first strikeout, I didn’t even want to smile because there was still work to do. And I knew I had had great defense behind me.”

Without a score in the eighth inning, freshman Monica Clow’s base hit up the middle scored the game-winning run in the ninth.

“We’re so proud of our little freshman,” said Allyn of Clow, who went 3-for-6 with a double and five RBIs. “She did a great job for us today and she is really starting to swing the bat.”

The 36-minute rain delay was called at the end of the fourth inning, with the score 14-13 in M-P’s favor after the two teams combined for 13 runs in the inning. While the crowd waited for the resumption of play, the Tommies performed a dance routine to the Bee Gees’ 1978 hit “Stayin’ Alive.”

The delay was called because neither team’s pitching staff was able to locate a pitch unless they took off velocity.

“It was really hard to hold onto the ball and I just tried to throw fastballs,” said Fritz, who pitched 7 2/3 innings.

As a result the fourth inning saw eight walks and 10 hits between the two halves.

Allyn had to bring in reliever Jen Rosie to finish out the fourth after much of the damage was done. Rosie then resumed pitching after the delay, but Fritz retook the ball to finish the fifth.

Other standouts included Megan Rollings, who was 3 for 6 with a home run, a double, three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base. Morgan Martinis was 4 for 6 with three runs scored and Katie Buck was 3 for 6 with an RBI, four runs scored and a walk.
