Marysville track sweeps final home meet

The Tommies seniors made the most of their final home meet of 2010. Marysville-Pilchuck swept both Lake Stevens and Cascade May 22 to notch another Wesco North victory.

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville-Pilchuck seniors made the most of their final home meet of 2010.

Tomahawk senior boys and girls came away with nine individual wins.

Leading the way for the boys, who scored 68.83 as a team, was senior Mark Pangilinan, who took top honors in four events, including the 100 dash (11.20), the 110-meter hurdles (15.60), the 300-meter hurdles (42.50) and he was the first leg of the 4×100 relay team (43.73).

Other members of that team were Cody House, AJ Kvangnes and Andre Pina.

House, a sophomore, also won the 400 in 51.91, while senior Zack Hanson finished atop the javelin field with a throw of 149-03 and Marc Oden was the highest in the high jump, reaching 5-08.

For the girls, senior Alisha Oden won the 400 with a time of 1:00.13 and was also part of two winning relay teams in the 4×100 and the 4×400.

Other members of the 4×100 included Summer Cull, Dacia Heckendorf and Cali Cull, while the other 4×400 members were Cali Cull, Jessica Boyle and Stephanie Banas.

The M-P girls scored 89 points to defeat Lake Stevens’ 64, while Cascade finished with 33.

Winners for the girls’ track events included Banas in the 100 (13.20), Summer Cull in the 200 (27.47) and Racheal Lefstad in the 3,200 (12:09.01).

In the field, discus thrower Brittany Torrence had the farthest toss at 86-08, pole vaulter Sarah Clark’s height of 9-06 was the highest and sophomore Emily Enberg won the triple jump with a distance of 32-01.50.

The team victories were the second for both, as they overcame Lake Stevens and Kamiak April 8 in another home meet.
