MARYSVILLE – Chase Showatter came off the bench in the second quarter to ignite the Chargers and freshman standout Malakai Knight scored 23 points to lead Marysville Getchell to a 62-54 win over Lynnwood Tuesday night.
Both teams are now 7-11, 3-7 in the Wesco 3A North.
Showatter came off the bench with 4:22 left in the half, hit two free throws, a 3 and later drove to the hoop for a bucket to help give the home team the lead after trailing 19-18. The visitors didn’t score for about three minutes on that run as the Chargers went up 29-19 with 2:34 left in the half. Sophomore Cameron Stordahl hit a bucket and scored again on a cross-court assist from sophomore Ethan Jackson, Knight scored on a put-back after grabbing an offensive board and scored again after a steal, and Stordahl tossed almost a full-court pass to Knight for another basket after breaking the Royals’ press.

Knight scored a 3 after a long pass from Stordahl, Ian Roskelley hit a couple of shots, and Knight scored after a steal. Junior Matt Thomas scored off an inbounds play at the buzzer to give MG the lead after one period 14-13.
