MARYSVILLE – Marysville Getchell High School is known for its academics.

And that spills on to the basketball court, too, as Coach Corby Schuh said they have “good chemistry.”

Schuh said the team’s skills are versatile so they can take what “they give us,” he said of opposing teams.

He added that the team has balance. “We can shoot from the outside or go to the big boys inside,” he said. Schuh said rebounding will be huge for the team in not only limiting opponents to one shot, but also getting second-chance points and running their fastbreak.

The six-year coach said Ian Roskelley, a 6-foot-1 senior guard, should lead the way, along with two sophomores who started as freshmen last year – 6-3 Cameron Stordahl and Ethan Jackson. He also expects leadership from senior Travis Barnes.

Schuh has four players 6-6 or taller, led by Lul William. He also expects a lot from junior Matt Thomas and freshman Malakai Knight.

The coach said the team should be much improved over last year’s 3-17 record if they focus on team defense and take care of the ball.

The Chargers open their season Nov. 28 at Thomas Jefferson.
