The Cougar spikers defeated Granite Falls 17-25, 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 15-10 in the Oct. 16 meeting.

Mizell broke the old school record of 34 assists by tallying 45 against the Tigers in front of a home crowd. She also chipped in nine digs, while libero Sarah Boe had 10 digs and junior hitter Liliya Kibitskaya had 13.

An effective offense helped Mizell set that new record and freshman Kaylee Diggs had 18 kills against Granite Falls. Kibitskaya had 17.

As the volleyball season winds to a close, Lakewood will host Coupeville Oct. 22 in their final home game of the season. They’ll wrap up on the road at winless Sultan (Oct. 27) and against the 6-3 Red Wolves of Cedarcrest (Oct. 29).
