Like their female counterparts, the Lakewood boys split their Kings-Australia double feature weekend.
But the Cougars boys beat the Whittlesea Pacers from Down Under, falling to conference rivals Kings and to 1-2 in league standings.
A perennial conference powerhouse, Kings led 22-8 by the end of the first quarter. The deficit prompted first Lakewood and then the Knights to turn to their benches to play out the Jan. 4 game.
Sophomore Blair Diamond was the only Cougar scoring in double figures against Kings with 10 points. Senior Terrence Ordonez followed with 9 in the 78-42 loss.
