MARYSVILLE — Marysville Little League teams Bob’s Burgers and Powerade squared off at Asbery Field on Tuesday, May 6.
It was Powerade that dominated, out of the two local teams, defeating Bob’s Burgers 16-6 in four innings.
“We were going up against good pitching,” Bob’s Burgers assistant coach Jeremy Schlegel said. “And the kids made just a few simple mistakes.”
Powerade pitcher Caden Jackson threw it down against Bob’s Burgers, and the offense by Powerade was equally impressive.
“Everything went well,” Powerade head coach Mark Southard said. “We had a couple of guys hit home runs.”
Powerade’s Kyle Nyblod and Trevin Southard hit back-to-back home runs.
On top of the errors by Bob’s Burgers and the all-around efficiency of Powerade, the game itself ultimately led to the blowout.
“We had an inning or two that cost us,” Schlegel said.
With Powerade’s record at 5-4 as of Friday, May 9, Southard feels Powerade is having a good season.
“We had some tough games,” Southard said. “We have a pretty good group of kids.”
As of May 9, Bob’s Burgers has a record of 2-8.
“The kids are having fun, and that’s the most important thing,” Schlegel said.
