Boys basketball
Alex Jensen scored 33 points and had seven steals to lead Lakewood to a 63-54 win at Bellingham Thursday.
The Cougars jumped out to a 22-10 first-quarter lead and sailed from there.
Jensen had to pick up the scoring load as three starters are out for unreported reasons. Jared Taylor and Jackson Schultz added 10 points each for Lakewood, which is 12-4 overall and 7-2 in the 2A Northwest Conference.
Adding 3 points apiece were Shae Dixon, Kaiden Harrison and Ethan Saxton, while Sean Phillips scored 1.
Girls basketball
The Lakewood girls played at Blaine but results were not reported.

Boys swimming
Mount Vernon beat Marysville Getchell 101-62 and Marysville Pilchuck 122-34, Thursday.
Despite the team scores, the Marysville squads had some impressive individual performances.
Jesse Nahinu of MG won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 7.74 seconds, beating his seed time by 6 1/2 seconds. Teammate Andrew Christensen was second.
Nahinu also was second in the 100 breaststroke.
Ian Meetsma was second in the 50 free with a time of 24.93 seconds. Meetsma also was second in the 100 free in 53.12 seconds.
In diving, Andrew Kallio of M-P again won, this time with 230.7 points. Teammate Daniel Kirkwood was second.
MG’s Kameron Wilkes won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.6.
MG’s 200 free relay team placed second with Nahinu, Nicholas Carlson, Christensen and Justin Orellana competing.
Hunter Brown of MG was second in the 100 backstroke, just missing first place by .3 seconds.
In the 400 free relay, MG was second with Collin Black, Hunter, Wilkes and Nahinu.
Girls basketball
MG beat Everett 66-47, and M-P got by Oak Harbor 36-32 Thursday, but stats were not reported for either game.

Arlington beat Renton Thursday 74-42. Josie Stupey led the way with 19 points, followed by Kiera Marsh with 14, Allison Deberry 10, Hailey Hiatt 9, Sierra Sheppele 8; Abby Schwark, Mackenzie Fischer, Molly Janousek and Ella Strittmatter with 3 apiece; and Georgia Arnold had 2.
