Rosebrook commits to softball at

Academy of Art University

M-P alum Miranda Rosebrook has signed to play softball at Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

A utility player for the Tomahawks who graduated in 2007, Rosebrook has been a key outfielder for Wenatchee Valley College, where she has played the last two seasons.

In 2008, she was named to the First Team Eastern Region as a centerfielder. That same season, Rosebrook was voted to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges All-American team for center field, as well as setting a school record for single-season hits with 83.

She plans to major in fashion merchandising.

Local rowers medal in B.C.

Rowers from Arlington and Marysville earned bronze medals competing for the Lake Stevens Rowing club as they competed in the Brentwood Regatta on Vancouver Island.

While several events in which the team was favored were cancelled due to wind conditions, Arlington’s Karina Pelligrini earned bronze on the women’s novice quad team. Marysville resident Ryan Kessler was on the men’s quad team that took third in its corresponding race.

The team, coached by Brian Wagner, Kendra Bodhaine and Carlie Elledge, came home with its highest medal total ever from the Brentwood Regatta with 25 medals won by 23 different rowers from a team of 31 youth.

Kickball league accepting teams

Marysville Parks and Recreation is accepting registration for teams for its summer kickball league. The season consists of a six-game regular season and a single-elimination tournament. Games are 55 minutes or seven innings, played at the M-P softball fields. Registration ends May 22 with the season beginning June 2. Cost is $120 per team without shirts or $200 per team with. WTA accepting teams for basketball

WTA is hosting the 23rd Annual VI Slamma Jamma May 23-25. The tourney is open to all boys and girls teams 4th grade through high school. Cost is $265.00 per team with a five-game guarantee. Tourney games will be held at various high schools in the Kent/Renton area. Arlington alum earns all-conference golf props

Arlington graduate and University of Redlands golfer Alex Hedlund was named to the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team this spring.

A sophomore at the Redlands, Calif. school, Hedlund was named to the conference second team after a strong finish at the SCIAC 36-hole Championship. Hedlund came in fourth at the 36-hole championship.

Hedlund graduated from Arlington High School in 2007.
