Girls golf: In their opening tournament, the Marysville-Pilchuck girls golf team placed second out of nine teams at host Oak Harbor. They edged out their league competition with a score of 534 on the par 73 Whidbey Golf and Country Club, beat only by defending state champion Redmond. Sophomore Stacia Ashley took fourth place in stroke play with a score of 93. “She has improved a great deal since last year,” said coach Jaci Legore Hodgins. ‘She has been preparing through the summer and all fall and winter with Abby Beauchamp and Sara Rott.” Additional scores: Beauchamp 104, Ashton 109, Rott 110, Sanders 118.
