Duking it out, the Tomahawks came out on top in two offensive slugfests, besting Wesco South opponents Edmonds-Woodway and Mountlake Terrace in their opening week.
Both wins came on the road, as M-P topped Edmonds-Woodway 13-7 on March 12, a rain date against the team that had given Marysville its first loss in last springs double-elimination district tournament.
A sixth-inning run broke a tie, securing a 10-9 win over Mountlake Terrace the day after.
M-P took advantage of Edmonds-Woodway pitching errors on their way to a nine-run effort in the second inning. Riley Gilbertson and Ryan Botham had doubles in the winning effort.
Once again, Tomahawks came out strong in the early innings against Mountlake Terrace, mounting six runs in the first inning. Senior Johnny Kruick hit a homer as Marysville improved to 2-0.
