The game at Quil Ceda Stadium shared the spotlight with the schools 13th annual Oktoberfest celebration.
Marysville school district athletic director Greg Erickson started Oktoberfest in the 1993-94 school year and said it allows different clubs and organizations the opportunity to meet the public.
The whole idea is to allow school clubs to have booths and promote items, Erickson said.
The Tomahawks trailed 31-0 before senior quarterback Stephen Atterson hit sophomore wide receiver Levi Cartas for a 31-yard touchdown with 4:04 remaining.
Senior place-kicker Kaleb Kuehn converted on the point after touchdown to make it a 31-7 ballgame, but the Bearcats scored once again after recovering the M-P onside kick.
The key turning point in the game came toward the end of the third quarter when Monroe scored two touchdowns in a span of 25 seconds.
The visiting Bearcats and their small, yet vocal cheering section seemed to quiet both the M-P student body and marching band throughout the Wesco North league game.
Atterson was 2-for-7 passing for 60 yards, one interception and one touchdown.
Cartas finished with one reception for 31-yards and one TD.
Defensively, the Tommies were led by the three solo and five assisted tackles from senior defensive back Duane Lapeyri.
Junior defensive tackle Jamie Cruz had two solo tackles and five assisted.
Head coach Rudy Grandbois said his squad didnt do a very good job of picking up the blitzes.
When you dont pick it up (the bliltz) it makes life difficult, he said.
He described the play and performance of Atterson as gutsy.
They came at us hard defensively and outnumbered us a couple of times.
The Tomahawks head to Everett Memorial Friday, Oct. 13, to face the Cascade Bruins.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
